In this book breathe, the author used some 3d CT scan to access the amount of bone in his nasal area (he did this because he increased his bone mass and fixed his breathing using something called a paleo block), can't be fucked to find the whole methodology but go look at that book if you care.

No. You can also lose jaw bone mass if you have been missing (some or all) teeth for a long enough time. I think chemo can also do that. Radiation therapy too. Many, many things can.
