growing up i've never understood the point of a hypothesis it makes zero sense for it to be a thing, we can test theory's why do we need to test a hypothesis?

theory is stronger; it has already gone through scientific testing and validation (it is well-supported). but yeah, people use "theory" colloquially in the same way as an idea or hypothesis
