You don’t actually know the brain produces awareness. What we observe is that changing the brain changes the contents of experience, but that only shows modulation, not generation.

Awareness is the one thing known directly. The brain is something you infer inside it. Explaining awareness in terms of matter is already circular. When the brain stops, the interface stops. That doesn’t prove awareness ends, only that this particular filter does. Claiming it does end is an assumption, not a demonstrated fact.
