The reason I am asking is to see how common my own conceptions about wealth, and also as a way of determining the degree to which my beliefs have been skewed by my social bubble.

That’s really interesting. I have always tried to keep my families level of wealth ambiguous so I have never really experienced that. Whenever I do reveal any information however I either am met with shock or complete indifference.I live in an upper middle class area, id consider that rich since all my friends used to tell me i was in an attempt to “annoy” me
I still do to a degree because i dont want to come off as pretentious or arrogant. That’s really interesting. That’s awesome. It never made sense to me why people act like it’s a bad thing. Making fun of someone for having a better life than you is straight lobotomite activities.I still do to a degree because i dont want to come off as pretentious or arrogant.
But nowadays if somebody tries to poke fun at me for the fact i literally lifemog and wealthmog them to oblivion, i dont hold back
Yeah genuinely, one of my old friends was for some reason making fun of me for living in a nice houseThat’s awesome. It never made sense to me why people act like it’s a bad thing. Making fun of someone for having a better life than you is straight lobotomite activities.
It’s all just cope. A lot of people have an inferiority complex about their money that they project on to others.Yeah genuinely, one of my old friends was for some reason making fun of me for living in a nice house
So i told him that he lives off benefits from the government (i didnt know if he actually did in the moment, it was just the first thing that come to mind) but the nigga got so pissy with me it was hilarious
Yeah even one of my friends who used to do that shit to me, recently admitted that he only did it cause he was jealous, and so were all my other friendsIt’s all just cope. A lot of people have an inferiority complex about their money that they project on to others.
That’s insane to me. 360 000 a year does not seem like a lot. My interpretation of wealth may just be skewed though. In the West nowadays probably around $360,000/year but since the money is fake a lot of niggas have WAY more than that
I felt the same way for a while. I actively turned down opportunities because I didn’t feel like it was fair that I should get them because of my families financial situation, which I had no part in building.Yeah even one of my friends who used to do that shit to me, recently admitted that he only did it cause he was jealous, and so were all my other friends
JFL at me unironically wishing i lived in a normal working class house 4 yrs ago because i was for some reason ashamed of my families wealth
It's not that much really, in an average city you will run into quite a few people who make that. Plenty of moderately skill jobs can make that with commitment, Plenty of high skill jobs may start at that, and because the money is fake like I said plenty of people are making that who really have no business doing so.That’s insane to me. 360 000 a year does not seem like a lot. The level of wealth in my city is also very abnormal, especially because no one in my city ever shows of, most billionaires drive a pick up. I remember my dad pointing out a couple billionaires in day to day life, and they were indistinguishable from the average person. For example the other week I saw one buying lunch at subway. It's not that much really, in an average city you will run into quite a few people who make that. However according to the stats that's like 98th percentile so you are top 2% in the planet and it's difficult to say that doesn't make you rich.
Nothing to scoff at but like I said plenty of people make WAY more.

Yeah I've heard that happens idk though I've never met any billionaires but I have been around some millionaires/multimillionaires and yeah aside from maybe just having a generally more well kept demeanor or maybe a slightly nicer car you wouldn't necessarily know they were rich from looking at them. The level of wealth in my city is also very abnormal, especially because no one in my city ever shows of, most billionaires drive a pick up.
