According to a study I read a while back, smaller is better. I don’t think they used ratios so much as raw face length in inches. The men in the top 25%ile most compact faces (again: overall face length, not FWHR) had the most partners and were the most sexually active. Those with the longest faces were the most likely to be incel.

Remember this correlates with FWHR and midface ratios, but is not equivalent. It’s also a law of averages. Tons of good looking guys with objectively long faces. It’s not prescriptive.

Edit: Inb4 Someone claims that second paragraph is horse face coping from me. I have a ridiculously compact face, my FWHR is well over 2.0. I’ve always wanted a longer face, honestly. But I’m learning to love what I have now that studies say what I have is better.
