What is it about the movie 'Dune' that bores me to tears?

I tried watching the original version with kyle maclachlan 3 times, and fell asleep every time. I am trying to watch the new version, but I am still only half way through, after about 30 minutes I get exhausted and have to put it on pause.

Why is the movie 'Dune" unwatchable?

The premise that there are 400 meter long sand worms on a planet generally devoid of life

The long pauses after people speak

The subtitles

The squirelly mystical plotline you can predict a mile away

The premise that they have mastered space travel but they can't just farm or manufacture the Spice
