Been asking myself the same question. Nietzsche a philosopher, being almost like the founder of Nihilism credited it largely to the fall of Christian faith in the west. Without hope and faith of a better place if they do xyz, people lose direction and motivation to make something of themselves.

As a result they rot, do degenerate shit and waste countless hrs consooming media, vidya and other meaningless virtual shit. You need a reason to live, that's why some people often have children. We can never be satisfied, always hungry for more power, wealth, women etc.

Not if ur stuck doing a menial repetitive job for years on end. Almost everyone hates going to work which is what takes up most ur time as an adult(40+ hrs, 5 days a week).

However if ur busy doing something you enjoy while still remaining financially stable you've found a way out. That's why your elders always tell you to chase your dreams or at the very least join a high paying field. That way the pain of wagecucking is softened by no worries for money and a nicer house/car etc.
