NO, Physic's PHD preferably if your going into Quant researching

Math PHD is just pure theory
while physic's is a bit more applied, tho math n physic's PHD student's do collaborate alot when making paper's

A+ mean's not that much granted everyone in a T10 is already getting all A's

Networking isnt a thing for quant
that's more front office finance IB or client handling where networking actually moves the needle

These salaries are heavily gassed up wtf

60% + of it is mostly bonus if firm preform's well n you do well in your position
These position's in the firm are mostly genetic's and jus doing good in math competition

Ideally you should be good at calculus by the age of 12-13 like goated, which mean's your on track
n also double majoring in stem help's alot

T10 should suffice tho from what im seeing they usually go for school's ranked high in CS overall n go from there

- Good math ecs/comps such as High putnam, good AMC->aime>usamo placements/HMMT
- good mental math, good combinatorics, probability, number theory skills (alth you will get these from doing comps)
- high coding knowledge, specifically in c++, python, sql and comps associated
- somewhat financial knowledge

Yes but you still need some level of networking to even get through the initial filters. Quant is mostly merit but top 3 university is a big advantage for the top shelf quant firms

Honestly I feel you have better chances and can be better off doing a startup than chasing quant but to each their own i guess.

Quant people are seriously cracked on solving maths physics tbh. These guys definitely get high from this. Startup is better for 99% of people

Add Verilog to that list too if you're targeting low-latency/HFT roles. You don't necessarily need a CS + math double major. Its just the popular choice since top CS grads skills directly translate better. And correct for atual quant recruiting, interview specific problem solving matters a lot more than finance knowledge they teach most of that anyway.

Largely nepo. Jason’s right about T3 uni, but you’ll be slammed by a nepo kid. I’ve seen this happen myself.
