What is the best skin care routine? Aside from eating clean and exercise, what is the best simplest skincare routine is well rounded and can improve texture/acne and fade dark spots? Preferably non harsh chemicals and not an excessive amount of products

I used to be a fucking skincare crazed patient and I can say that the best skincare routine is having something relatively minimal.

Cleanse (type of cleanser depends on skin type) --> Toner ---> Essence, some basic ass serum or cream -----> moisturizer
Exfoliate once or twice a week (chemical or physical)

You can skip the 3rd step if you want. Only use actives like retinol, niancinamide, acutane, other acne treatment etc if your skin actually needs it. Don't just start using it because its trendy.

you shouldnt add any unecessary skincare products if you dont have a purpose for them. Hence:

A sunscreen to PROTECT skin from premature aging
A cleaner to remove the sunscreen and dirt from your face before going to bed
optional: Topical Vitamin A, Vitamin C or whatever suits your particular needs.

Idk i thought this was pretty minimal. No actives, all you basically do is cleanse tone and moisturise, exfoliate once a week. Pretty much all there is to it.

You could go for light glycolic or salicylic acid toners, and exfoliating is where u basically make ur skincell turn-over rate faster. This promotes faster skin changes, repairs to acne scars as well as other things like tans, blemishes etc. Something like Paula's choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant salicylic acid i heard is really good, but physical exfoliants (scrubs similar to cleansers) can also work too just do it in regulation.

If you have a lot of acne or actual conditions (like you mentioned post inflammatory erythema, which idk exactly what it is, it might be best to go to a dermatologist to get that properly treated and get prescribed proper chemicals/actives to clear it up. Skincare is a softmaxx solution.
