For me, it wasn't the time, the money, or the effort.
It was my best friend. I moved and ended up a new school junior year. I was a complete retard and a loner but I found a fellow autist with similar interests and hobbies who was just as ND as me. He was about 5'7" at the time and would probably be rated LTN on here. Yet, he had a gf. I started spending a lot of time with her and became friends with her through a mutual class. I slowly developed a crush on her but knew I shouldn't act on it. He invited me to an extracurricular that they were both a part of, and that was the nail in the coffin.
I couldn't help myself. I was paired with her for everything, and she developed feelings for me too, she must have had a type for retards or something. Their relationship deteriorated rapidly, and both of them asked me for advice. I told both of them they should break up with the other, and when the time came, they both realized the other was going to as well, so it was an amusing and painless separation (i was actually there for it ironically). This happened 2 days before valentines day.
On Valentine's day, I made my move
Now this was a huge boost in social status. Not only was she my first gf which helped me NTmax, I became more popular as it elevated my status like I said. Word spread pretty fast and everyone started calling me Mr Steal Yo Girl. No one felt bad for him, and no one thought I was a bad person. They made fun of him actually and called him sneako (because sneako was a cuck). It destroyed his reputation while kickstarting mine. I was no longer known as just another retard, but as the guy who stole his friend's gf. This is also around the same time I got into looksmaxxing so these happened simultaneously. I only dated her for 2 months before breaking up with her, but by the time I did, I had the social skills and status to pursue further options. I had a few situationships over the summer (including my ex gf's ex gf, she was bi) and ended up with my current girlfriend by the end (after getting her to dump her bf, and cucking another guy).
But at the cost of the respect, trust, and friendship I had with my first true friend at my high school.
