What is the ideal focal length?

I read the human eye has a focal length of about 50mm. However, when you look at pictures, those with 100 or 150mm look even better. What is, in regards to optimal human ratios, the best focal length to use in cameras for OLD and Instagram maxxing?

Whatever one can skew your ratios toward the ideal.

For example a guy with a low ESR might look better in selfie camera.
