So the last teeth dont count?
No, it’s the distance between the first molars.
40mm+ is ideal. The average should be slightly lower though.
30mm is definitely too low though- mine were like 33mm, and I expanded it by 7mm.
Though, I had a slight relapse bone wise.

Mine is actually over 40mm but my midface forward growth isnt great sucks man

what was your experience with MSE? Im thinking of getting it but im afraid of the asymmetry side effects
Not great. Asymmetric results, asymmetric/ canted palate, and my TMJ got even worse during the process.
Good for nose breathing though. I view it as a necessary step before correcting my occlusion with Bimax.

just tell him you want it, just to experiment on your face, you dont mind the effects
he will give it to you

i also have slight tmj , but my bite is good, should i still get the mse? considering my palate is like under average in width

Depends on various factors, and your goals. Aesthetically, it may be beneficial, if you have a narrow face to begin with

43-45mm is the ideal with the average being like 39mm iirc. If you go over like 48mm you'll start running into the issue of your other ratios being much more likely to be off.

Which ratios would improve with a wider palate?

The width of your palate builds the foundation for your midface. It affects pretty much every ratio in the face.

The wider above the ideal your palate becomes the wider the margin of error because something doesn't expand quite as well.

People with below ideal palate widths tend to have unideal ratios because of facial length while people with above ideal palate widths tend to have unideal ratios because of facial width, it's a balancing act more or less.
