What is the normal distance between upper and lower teeth in your natural position?

In my natural mouth position my upper and lower teeth are around 3-4mm apart, but once I close them they align in a healthy way (aka there is no overbite/underbite).

I also have a recessed chin which I wish to fix with a genio, and it doesn't look recessed when I am clenching my teeth because I have a bit of excess skin which creates a mentalis strain that goes away when my chin is relaxed aka when my mouth is closed.

That being said, I feared that my recession wouldn't be visible on a CT scan as I would have to close my mouth there. I also feared that I may need bimax and that I can't really predict whether I need it or not because again, my mouth would be closed while taking a CT scan. Is this a common thing or am I an outlier?

Aight I get it this forum doesn't know shit, imma go back to shitposting and earn for both bimax and genio

my front teeth hover just a bit over my lower teeth, like they touch if there's any vibration, tongue on roof of mouth.

Would you consider 4mm to be too much? I can't keep my teeth touching bc then my face looks short, and I can't keep them apart because then my chin looks recessed. Is this a bimax case from the way I described it?

you can use a mouth guard as intermediate so you can clench them while keeping them further apart for photos.

recessions and malocclusions arent measured with "overbites and underbites", those are the most clear way of noticing some imbalances, but dentists check the relation and position of your lower and upper molars, if you are recessed the ct scan will tell dentists are not dumb lol
