What is the point of making your bed?

Like I get you have to keep your bedroom tidy which is what I did as a kid up until now. But when I was younger why did my mother keep asking me to sort my blanket out? Like I frequently rest and sit in my bed especially when gaming or browsing this site

All it requires is throwing the duvet up and flat when you're in the bed, and then folding over the top bit to make that straight

At least that's what I do
