What is the reason for medial canthus variations

I know it's mostly just a difference of the medial canthal tendons length and positioning but what's the point of it?

Most genetic features are a result of evolutionary adaptation, so are different medial canthus types a result of that or are they just a benign deformity like green eyes

Everyone in my family has a downturned medial canthus so I'm used to seeing it but whenever I get around other people I realize almost nobody has it

I tried looking this up but there was almost nothing I probably just didn't look hard enough

Its just genetic, there's no evolutionary advantage or disadvantage to having a downturned one, its a heritable genetic feature but majority of people have an upturned or flat one, you could compare the...
