I'm getting braces soon, and the plan is to have all my premolears removed and braces installed. I'm also getting a maxillary widening procedure. Many people on this forum have told me it's better not to remove my premolars, but they've also said that if there's no other solution, they should remove them. What's wrong with removing premolars?

Premolar extractions are used to create space when the dental arches are too small for the teeth, often in cases of significant crowding or incisor protrusion. When planned properly they allow teeth to be positioned within the bone with stable results, but problems arise if they are used as a shortcut for poor diagnosis, as unnecessary extractions can flatten the profile or compromise arch form.
