What is your family like

Since we're all most likely seeing some today or within the next 2 months. Not just immediate but extended as well. I only see a couple of my extended relatives every few years. Grandma, two aunts, and about 3 uncles that I've actually come into contact with in the last decade. 100% of my uncles on my dads side are dead, incarcerated, or spun out on meth.

2 of my uncles are murderers, both are dead now. 1 is simply speculation though the other was charged with murder but never convicted. That uncle in specific was an absolute psychopath, the kind that have documentaries made on them. He died when I was a year old so thankfully I never put up with him but he did threaten to kill my mom and older brother when he was ~2. He also tried to stab his mother to death.

I don't know any of my cousins really, only ones I've heard of kept stealing things from my family via legal loopholes and wills and whatnot. I've never really met anyone on my dads side because it's the most dysfunctional. It's funny though because my family is the only normal one out of all the rest, and I mean that literally.

From my father's side I have 3 uncles

One alcoholic uncle who turned sober and has been sober for 16 years. Has a child who is currently in school.

One is currently working as staff engineer and tech lead in Chicago. 8 figure net worth and the most professionally successful in the family, but his personal life hasn't been as smooth he has no children and his marriage is on the verge of failing

The third uncle retired peacefully and passed away in his sleep from a stroke three years ago. He left behind a large house, a big passive income in dividends and a daughter who's studying to become a doctor.

My mother's side

2 aunts who are both married and have children in school. One celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary last year, and the other runs a small boutique clothing business.

One uncle who moved to the UK in 90s and has been living there has a child who is my age born and raised in UK but is complete degenerate. He dropped out of college, got involved in smuggling drugs, and even served jail time.

I also have one aunt from my dad's side a widow whose whereabouts nobody knows. She distanced herself from the family and doesn't attend any functions, apparently due to old land disputes. The last time I saw her, I was a child.

Most of my family members are well educated too but their lives still ended up going in completely different directions. Same background, same but the outcomes are all over the place.

He strangled a bitch who was cheating on her husband with him and by the time the police showed up he was in the front yard choking the neighbor out ass well. I guess the neighbor heard the commotion inside the house and went inside to see what was going on. She had already called 911. He spotted her and chased her out to the yard and tried to kill her too.

I worked pipeline construction with this uncle out in Wyoming for a bit when I was 18. He's a good guy as long as he doesn't touch alcohol. I've talked to him on the phone since he's been locked up. He's got status where he's at at least. Running commissary game yelling back and forth to guys on while he's on the phone with me, asking him about shit they want to buy from him and whatnot.

Anyways, that's my father's family. Their mother, my beloved Memaw, is even even more crazy believe it or not. My father's actually the most only sane one amongst us.

My mother's family is pretty elegant. Bunch of hoity French Canadians.

I won't be seeing any family during any of these holidays. They refuse to see me. They're all scared of me.

His case is pretty wild, interesting you noted he has status where he's at considering his case involved a child... guess inmates don't check paperwork down in MN prisons, guys with those types of charges don't last long usually, or at the very least won't get any status. Regardless it's interesting to see someone else on here with some familial crazies.

It depends on the person actually. Sometimes inmates, if they can tell you didn't do it will not lump you in with the chomos. Maybe he didn't but maybe he did. This is his third time incarcerated though so he knows how to navigate. First time was when he was in the Marine Corps in Japan. Was put in Jap prison for 6 months for stealing a diplomat's watch or something. Was court martialled after his stint. Then back in Michigan a few years later he did 5 years in Jackson for trying to strangle a woman to death while inside her home. He had been working as a cable guy and was at her house for repairs. Jackson is Michigan's toughest state prison.

Anyways, no he'll be getting out believe it or not. His release date is in like 8 years or something. I love the man but I'm not an idiot. I wouldn't have him anywhere around the women in my life whom I love. He goes absolutely psycho when he drinks, and even though he knows he shouldn't he will randomly start drinking out of nowhere. My little cousin, his son, was out there with us in Wyoming and would become petrified whenever he'd drink.
