#4: This happened in the middle of the US-Chinese trade war. China released the virus on purpose to harm the US and and the west in general. They knew that this would harm democracies much more than it harms autocratic systems. Also they probably already had the antidode when they released the virus. Thus the very low numbers of infections in China right after the virus swapped over to the USA and Europe.

They did this to achieve two things:
a) Harm Donald Trump and get rid of him.
b) Teach the USA a lesson not to fuck with them.
c) End the trade war by shifting the focus on the virus rather than the trade war.
d) Harm the US economy so they are in a weaker position for negotiating in regards to the trade war.

Pretty sure this is it. I can't prove it of course but I think this is why Covid happened.
