Genuine question, what percentage of people are htn? I was guessing >5% but my friend says it’s around 1

it's a self-defeating definition ngl
people on this forum have wildly different thresholds for MTN, HTN, CL, etc. although MTN and HTN are the most useful categories for most people
realistically you need to take what percentage of the non-obese, OK-groomed, not necessary looksmaxed but not pure chud population constitutes MTN and HTN.
and for social purposes you also need to condition on your own social/economic circles. the reason why "MTN" doesn't cut it in 2026 is not just hypergamy, it's also the fact that sub-5s (largely) aren't going out or participating in the social scene at all, which inflates the perception of what the "average" person is.
half of the people on here are ND and weird, but the other half are probably like MTN/HMTN/above average that need to compete in environments where the average person is above average

I'd say: if the population was entirely non obese but not necessarily super lean:
* MTN: top 45% (5-5.75 PSL, "5-6.9" conventional scale)
* HTN: top 30% (6-6.75 PSL, "7-8.4" conventional scale)
Realistically, the majority of people's aesthetic bases allow for softmaxxing to say LMTN to MMTN and perhaps with reasonable (not insane) hardmaxxing to say HMTN. Getting into the HTN zone is really hard, but having HTN-like appeal is not quite as bad.
