what should i ask my orthodontist for?

I have to wear either braces on top teeth or invisalign. I lean on the first option. Should i ask for anything else, like palate expansion,etc or leave it as it is? I'm 18 btw

What is your intermolar width? If below 37 mm it is said to better expand first. You can always align them later, but first aligning and then expanding would result in a waste of money

By the way, Invisalign seems to be a better and more modern choice of aligning the teeth

it is almost quadruple the price of normal braces and apparently my dentist has minor control over the procedures(basically it will be hard to fix shit)

Then go ahead but just make sure you have a wide enough palate
