So I know that I'm a recessed subhuman, you don't have to tell me.
I consulted an orthodontist a few weeks ago because of crooked teeth and a shifted bite due to not wearing a retainer after having braces in the past. I asked him about potential jaw surgery and he and his assistant almost laughed and said that I don't need it at all and that it wouldn' be covered by insurance in Germany either.
So he just wants to correct my bite and straighten my teeth with Invisalign for 6500€ and this shit wouln't improve my side profile at all. I actually also have mild TMJ issues from time to time and horrible daytime fatigue at the moment, I did a home sleep study a few months ago and had an AHI of 6,3, so borderline/mild sleep apnea, which the ENT doc didn't see as necessary to treat, but I'm planning to do another study in a sleep lab probably.
It's clear that bimax would make the most sense right, but if I won't be able to get it covered by insurance I would lack the money to pay it myself at the moment and probably also the next 2/3 years . Would a sliding genioplasty or chin wing be an alternative or should I really try to save up for jaw surgery?
