As you niggas know I've been working in the product team for my company for some time now and they have finally released all the documents and they have decided to sponsor H1B visas to people who have 2 years of experience in the company or more with the new fee but remember I was working here last summer and was reporting directly to an executive office. That same Jewish boss/mentor.
He offered to talk with the HR lady and the immigration lawyers to skip the waiting time and sponsor my H-1B visa in this years cycle itself citing my prior strong performance and me already being in the product team. He told me he could seek an exception given my track record
The proposed role would involve a transition to the Bay Area office likely with increased scope, more responsibilities and higher pay aswell. I'll be making a bank if I did do this but it probably won't be as chill rn. I am working remote and making great money and its going good despite the 55 hours a week it's not bad because I can work anytime I want it's not one long stretch but idk if I did go it probably wouldn't
As a cap-subject petition, registration typically occurs in March mid-March 2026 with potential start in October 2026 if selected and with a senior executive supporting and vouching for me. It could help prioritize or frame the case more favorably. What do y'all think? Part of me wants to say yes. I've been there and Bay Area is the place to be for growth/money/exposure and access to top tier networks. Other part loves this remote chill life living with family and friends while building more tenure safely.
What y'all think? Take the shot and move to the Bay. Or stay locked in remote, stack exp, and try again when I have made more dough?
