Softmaxx is basically things that u can do by yourself, and in a "natural" way. The most common softmaxxes are minoxidil for facial hair, hit the gym, get a good haircut, some guys use makeup, etc. On the other side, hard maxx reffers to peptides, steroids, and surgeries.
