What truly is the purpose of a canthopexy?

So it doesnt increase PFL

It doesnt change the actual canthal tilt

It doesnt reposition the tendon

So what does it really do? What does "tightening" the lateral canthus actually mean?

It apparently doesnt meaningfully reduce scleral show beneath the iris either, for that one would need more undereye support, lower eyelid retraction repair, possibly spacer graft
