I've met some pretty funny women. And not the cringe Chelsea Handler comedian type where it's all muh vagina. Women can be funny to men they are interested in. If a woman isn't trying to make you laugh, then she doesn't care about your opinion nor does she want your approval. But comedy is about timing, and anyone can master that skill.

Women are just less likely to try and be funny around men for the reason above but also because they have less reason to become jesters. But even then I am not sure the whole "guys are funnier than girls" is particularly accurate. Especially since most guys that think they are funny as just cringy edgelords who say shit out of shock value but with garbage timing and not knowing their audience. Also most guys are awkward compared to most girls and it's hard to be funny when awkward.

That said the best comedians have been male and it's not even close. In terms of actual stand-up comedy, men mog. But irl I don’t notice guys being funnier at all.

If you went to school, how many girls were class clowns? How many girls occasionally or regularly had the whole class laughing?

I can tell you I’ve never seen it but I know many men who made you excited to go to class because you knew you’d have a good time.

I don’t believe women are incapable of being funny but that they simply don’t try to be funny like men do. Humor is a bit of a masculine trait as it’s a display of competence. Men become funny to make friends by impressing other men such that they value them as intelligent and to impress girls so they girls so that girls see they are intelligent. Female friend groups are not generally built around competence and women don’t usually need to prove they are intelligent to get laid. Hence women just aren’t as funny.

Saying most guys who try to be funny aren’t doesn’t mean women have it any better. Women don’t even try to be funny. Saying most guys are awkward doesn’t mean anything in regards to funny guys who aren’t awkward. The best comedians are males because males are in fact funnier on average for a variety of reasons, including more pressure to perform, better ability to handle stress, and more risk taking styles of humor.
