Machiavellianism is just a combination of traits that make you do whatever you need to be successful, regardless of morals or ethics. But narcissism just means you are self obsessed, with no particular effect on your methods for being successful. I can see people who are both being successful but if you are only narcissistic that probably wouldnt help at all unless you are already attractive or rich.
