I have not, but I have ironically tried kojic acid before and it does work a little bit. The reason why I say hydroquinone works better it's because it is the dermatological standard, with the highest degree of clinical effectiveness and the most validation by dermatologists to treat hyperpigmentation.

Mirin. What would you recommend to use with the hydroquinone? I am using tret rn and planning to hop on hydroquinone but maybe there is something stronger and more effective than that.

Nope, 4-6% Hydroquinone is likely all you need. Use it with Tretinoin in the PM, a pea-sized amount of both distributed equally all over your face, this is likely all you need.

Use hydroquinone for as long as you need until the issue this appears, after that discontinue treatment.

Avoid concentrations over 6%, they're too strong and often cause rebound hyperpigmentation. Also avoid using either tretinoin or hydroquinone under or around your eyes, this can give you eye bags and tretinoin is toxic to your eye glands.
