I currently work as a hockey coach and earn 14 an hour (Dallas Metroplex area). However, I overhear some of my classmates that JUST got jobs (without any prior experience) and already earn a base pay of 15-16 an hour at places like Salad and Go. If anyone here has a job, is this normal? I feel like the fast food service industry is easier to work in than being a sports coach. And does anyone have any recommendations on how to lie on my job application or what I should put, because ive applied to many places and got rejected from all of them (or ghoster) except 1, which offered to pay me a whopping 8 dollars.

Movie gif. Nicholas Cage as Castor in Face Off rubs his face failing to suppress a chuckle and then bursts into laughter.

Keep working at the hockey job. fast food will get you another buck per hour. But fast food takes away your soul and gives you no experience to put on resumes/CV. Coaching develops your leadership. it connects you with wealthy parents, and as far as hiring managers are concerned, "coaching kids" sounds much better than "flipping burgers" when you're applying for real jobs down the road.

As far as lying in your application. List the skills you've developed, not just what you did. Tell them that you oversaw the logistics of practice, or you mentored young athletes. Use the coaching position to get you into a better paying job somewhere else if you really want more money. Don't mind your classmates, I think your job has the highest ROI.
