What’s the difference between Adapelene and Tretinoin ?

I’ve been wanting to up my skincare routine for a while and was asking my parents if I could try to get prescribed Tret they did some research and wanted me to try Adapelene first. I decided to try it and see since in theory they’re similar, I’m early into using it and I’m just wondering if it’s worth committing to

if you have acne, do a course of accutane then after the acne is gone do a retinoid for the acne scarring, if you don't have acne just use a cleanser + moisturizer

Yeah I don’t have bad acne it’s more so just scarring and light acne on some parts of my face is accurate still worth it?
