I think they are considered white or they can self identify. So its really not that accurate also you could be mixed and say you feel White on the consensus. So in reality America is not 60% White closer to maybe 40-50% by european standards at least. But by American standards being swarthy but overall white looking means you are White.

I have a White friend who had a 4.0 great SAT scores and he didn't make it into any of his top picks meanwhile a black guy got a 3.3 and a much worse score and did better then him. I have so many White male friends I know with similar stories where they know a minority person and they apply for the same unis or jobs with obvious better credentials and don't get it.
