What's the ideal age for an age gap?

I think if you're 15-20, the age gap should be no more than three (if you're 15 anyway) to 5 years. However, I feel like once you hit 26, everything down to legal age (which in most countries averages to 16 to 18) is fair game, and that an ideal age gap is about 8-10 years.
