My dad is 70 years old. How much time do you think he has before he dies? I ask because I hate him with a passion and I want to know how much longer a person of his age has to live.

I'm 30. But he has heart problems so maybe he will die from heart issues soon. One time he had a stroke so he probably doesn't have that much long since his health is failing.

Life expectancy is 80 in western countries.

Life expectancy for any individul increases the older you get which sounds counter intuitive but is logical. Someone who is already 70 has almost made it while a lot can go wrong for someone who is 20. Likewise who do you think is more likely to accomplish owning a million Dollars. Someone who already has 999,000 Dollars or someone who has 20,000 Dollars so far? So your dad being 70 means he is more likely to reach his life expectancy than any younger person.

My dad is 88. He had a fall a few years ago and it goes downhill from there. If they manage to not fall and stay in shape, they do better.

That's pretty common, vicious circle, especially with a femur fracture

Old people can die from a fall if the bone fragment gets into the blood stream. Younger people can have this happen too, though.

He also gets into car crashes a lot. The last time the car ran over his leg and broke it and almost crushed him.
