Whats the optimal number of sets for muscle growth?

How many sets im supposed to do every week for building muscle? I know im supposed to lift heavy, almost to failure, progressive overload and shit, but whats the ideal number of sets for chest for example? I still dont know how to figure that out lmao
 
Not sure about the exact number (you can search online) but generally speaking the more volume/sets the more muscle growth

if u feel a muscle too sore its better to train it lightly instead of risking cramps
 
12 per bodypart per week is enough if you do 0-1 RER every set

4-6 sets, no more than 8-12 reps per set, at around 80-90% RM is good

you should switch around (from personal experience)

you take one exercises that works really well for you and do 3x8-10 then after 3-4 weeks you do the same exercise for 4x8-10 or 4x10-12

the key is to confuse your muscles and never let them get used to it. thats why u need to also switch exercises, training days, routines, probably even the time when you hit the gym
