boxing nerds who run the sport think boxing matches with smaller guys are better because they rely more on the "game" component of boxing and less on knockout power. Cruiserweight & up a bunch of the best guys are just knockout artists.

well probably the same shit, leftover from boxing. But I think there's way less in MMA, in boxing there are weight classes every 5lbs up until you start getting to heavyweight and then the weight classes are like 20lb jumps
