It barely works because you are so desensitized being an opiate addict

Ive been taking SSRI months before I tried anything.Ive stopped like few days ago
Like, before you ever did any other drugs? I feel like whatever the case is you could ask the doctor to give you a higher doss

It treats the symptom (ie depression) of low serotonin whilst you work on the cause

You have to try many until you find the one that works without sides

It keeps the serotonin in the synapses or some shit. Idk i learned this shit months ago when i was autistic about pharmacology.

if it didn't work it wouldn't be prescribed, it's just not as effective to some people and some disorders. For instance, SSRI seem to work much better treating people with MDD

I’ve been on Lexapro for 5 weeks now and I feel it’s just starting to work

They work slightly better then placebo in most studies jfl, and they curr depression by making you numb, too much seratonin is bad it's linked to apathy, anhedonia and i don't care behavior. It makes you more tired and like a bitch, less seratonin and more gaba and dopamine is what makes you happy

More seratonin = more anhedonic depression

So?It literally barely has any effect and sides effects are brutal
the point is not exactly making you happy but rather not depressed. How long have you been taking it? A lot of side effects I had in the beginning faded away with time. I think the results I got are worth the side effects, much better than the mental hell my life was.

working better than placebo = working. In each case you still can't just throw studies without seeing what methods did they use. For an example we know that unlike many other drugs SSRI do take longer to take effect, like 8 weeks plus. Different drugs should also be compared as they seem to have different levels of effectiveness. If you look it up you will see that while in some people they do seem to work just fine, some people just seem to be non reagent so this should be take in consideration as well.

Also this chemical imbalancement is pretty outdated by now and we know depression is more complex than that. There's even some evidence regarding neuralplasticity. And we know that SSRI do seem to induce adult neuralplasticity so the reason why it works or not maybe not be related to serotonin at all (at least not the way we imagine).

Of course, if any drug is not effective, one should try alternative treatments.

Still ssri have some bad sides tbh and should be considered only if very depressed and it lasts a long time. Why haven't you tried microdosing shrooms or lsd?

i heard its legit for heavy depression but doesnt outperform placebos in light to medium level of depressions.

and as a every drug ssri can have side effects, eg in opposite to post finasteride syndrome post ssri sexual dysfunction (pssd) got recognized by the EU as an offical medical condition. doesnt mean that everybody who takes ssri will run around with a limb dick for the rest of his life, probably just a very small minority.

just as many things in life ssri has pros and cons

too high inhib to do drugs tbh

also I was very afraid I could end up stupidly roping in some mental breakdown I used to have frequently. Maybe in the future I'll try some shrooms when I stop taking SSRI, I don't plan on taking it forever (my doctor said I should stick with it at least two years as people seem to get better results after long term usage)

Try doing mescaline tbh instead of lsd or shrooms, it's much more mellow and euphoric rather then analytical. If you live in some EU country you can order a cactus legally from the Netherlands or just go there yourself

I tried fluxetine (prozac) and escitalopram(lexapro) for 2 years each . If you sleep all day and dont want to wake up it wakes you up a bit. It becomes dangerous when indifference kicks in and while you are recovering from major depression you are just meh" , you are indifferent to suicidal thoughts. That's why people commit suicide while on it ....
