I can understand Italians or Spanish being considered non white but most Irish look almost like Anglos . There are lots of Irish football players in England team and no one even realize they're actually Irish (Rooney, Kane, Grealish, Rice, Maguire etc) . Even Thomas Delaney don't look out of place in Denmark .

I think it has less do with appearance and more to do with Victorian era politics and stereotypes. 100s of years ago only the British and Dutch used to hold positions of power so the Irish were seen as lower class people who were stereotyped as being lazy, uncivilized and rowdy but now that's obviously not the case.
