I’ve been going to the gym for couple months now I actually gained some weight and my body is changing but i got love handles and a little bit of belly fat. How can i get a lean core?

Caloric deficit

Can also do stomach vacuums for tighter waist and emphasize lats and delts so midsection looks smaller

Just this for what you wrote, plus having proper genetics of frame with wide shoulders, that's 90% of success
Remaining 10% is training muscles of upper body: delts, chest, and back. You simply want as big difference in width between shoulders and hips as possible. Delts are fun to train and a lot of people ignore them so it's good way to improve your width
So basically the leaner you'll be and the bigger your delts and chest will be, the better you'll look

But I’m trying to gain muscle and not be skinny

If you aim at V-shaped physique then having surplus fat ("love handles") doesn't do you any good. If you work for maximum strength and hypertrophy then sure, but if you want good body shape then it would probably be better to lose it and then again go into heavier training and slight caloric surplus when you have the base shape you want. You need to choose between those two

Eat enough protein (close to 1g/lb bodyweight a day), and a slight caloric deficit. Otherwise you'll keep gaining fat

I actually have good width shoulders and big traps but yeah i guess my genetics are not helping

v shape is created by the lats and shoulders.

everything else is just losing weight.

I’m 5’7 175 lbs. I’ve got good shoulders but midsection is not lean at all
