whats ur favorite horror movie

Ahhh, yes I’ve dabbled into the disturbing genre before but can’t say I’m a fan. You might like L’interieur, it’s a 2007 French horror movie and it’s a part of the extreme French wave as they called it. I’ve also watched movies like I Spit on Your Grave (yes, all of them), A Serbian Film, etc. The only one I refused to watch was Grotesque (2009) because it offers no substance. It’s just a pure torture porn flick and I don’t like those, that’s kind of why I didn’t like Martyrs (2008) but why I did like Martyrs (2015).
Imma watch L’interieur either Thursday or Friday night when I'm rotting. I remember you mentioned the film to me in an old thread and I forgot to watch it. I spit on Your Grave was meh for me. I remember watching a Serbian Film when in high school and it made me feel empty inside afterwards and desensitized me. I remember watching a breakdown about Grotesque and it did just look like a boring torture porn film. I remember watching this film named "Feed" and it was literally just a torture porn film for people with a feederism/ sitophilia fetish. One of the most boring and shit films I've ever watched. I'm surprised you enjoyed the Martyrs remake since the fans hated that one and said it was a useless remake. But yeah, I don't mind the torture porn films as long as the story, plot, and characters are good.

People hated that one but I liked it.
When i was a kid, i saw it with my siblings at night with all lights off and all run away at the bathroom jump scare scene, but my sleeve got caught on the door handle and i just stood there screaming, unable to leave, while everyone else already left the room
I only watched it once, but was it when he peeped through the bathroom door? I still vaguely recall that one.

I can try and get you a link for the French movie if you want. I thought ISOYG 2 was the most disturbing entry from the POV of the female protagonist but it’s not going to be anywhere like the other movies we mentioned. Haha that’s a coincidence, I also watched that during high school, and like you it left me feeling empty after I finished it. It was just really bleak. Yes, I recognize I’m practically the only one who enjoyed the remake and preferred it over the original, but that’s gotta do with me not liking the fact that people go unpunished after they commit crimes like that.

My bad. I was thinking of another scene. But that’s a good one for 2005. Seems like many horror movies were inspired by this one, because such scares remind me more of 2010 flicks like Insidious and other productions after 2010. :ogre:

Nah it’s fine. I have so many pirated movie sites saved and will just watch it on effedupmovies.com. I can see why you didn’t enjoy the second half tho because many other people were also saying that the same thing you said.

Really? I thought it was the second half of the movie that people loved the most. And thanks for the URL, I’ll give it a look. And okay, if you change your mind then let me know. Make sure to post a thread or something after you have watched it, interested to hear your thoughts.

No, I don’t know about that channel. I usually just watch the movies and then read reviews to see what others think of the movie, wondering if we thought the same scenes were good or even creepy (the latter is very uncommon as western horror movies fail to creep me out in general).

It’s gory though
That’s correct. They’re quite gory, but I think OP wasn’t concerned about that aspect. I get the feeling he isn’t scared by gore, and he must have thought it’s an actual scary movie, with full on horror, if that makes sense.

I never watch horror films involving kids and animals. That’s my limit.

Cannibal Holocaust should indeed be boycotted, I’ve not watched that one and refuse to watch it because of the stuff they did there (involving real animals). I wish those guys went to trial for that shit.

Makes sense. I used to be into slashers mainly but then I turned to paranormal. I think paranormal is creepier than slashers are but slashers are more realistic. Anyway, what about uhh.. Creep, have you seen that one?

Yes, they did have to prove it didn’t involve actual murders of people. I recall reading about that.

There was also a Japanese fake snuff film series that was investigated because it was too realistic

I’ve heard a few say that they enjoyed the movie till the torturing scenes came around and that afterwards it was just torture porn. One of the main reasons why I enjoyed it was due to the cults presence which was plot twisting. Okay, I’ll tag you in the thread when I watched it.

Yea, I’ve heard of that one as well. Charlie Sheen thought it was an actual snuff film. :feelskek: But I haven’t watched Guinea Pig because I don’t like torture porn flicks like these. Same reason why I didn’t watch Grotesque (2009).

Ohhh dang, I always thought it was the torture porn aspect that made people love that movie. Meanwhile I enjoyed it because of its seemingly paranormal elements in the first half. And okay bhai, I’ll be looking forward to it. :Comfy:

IMO too much gore is laziness. Same with jumpscares. A good horror film relies more on acting and plot and suspense.

The exorcist mogs hostel for that reason

Yes, that’s why I moved on to Japanese horror movies. They don’t employ jump scares generally even though they easily can. They create uneasy atmospheres which leave you creeped out. Western horror movies mainly fail to do this, though sometimes they can have creepy scenes too. The Exorcist is better than Hostel, no doubt, but Hostel is more realistic since it involves people.

The trouble with hostel is that all the characters are overly naive and that makes them somewhat hard to relate to. Ironically the deleted ending was better - Paxton kidnaps the Dutch guys daughter and kills her in front of him

Yes, that's why I want to watch it, because he plays in it. But I already know about the plot twist though. Btw, it's Adrien with an "e," and not an "a," a common misspelling. Speaking of AB, have you watched The Brutalist? It's not a horror movie but the most recent movie of his, which has been getting critical acclaim and has been nominated for an Oscar. I don't think he will win because of all the commotion behind the usage of AI. Now criticizers are calling it an "AI performance" but that's very misleading because they only used AI for vowel enhancement (because Hungarian is not a language that non-native speakers can master, according to Hungarians themselves) and it was a 2 minute scene out of a nearly 3 and a half hour movie. We'll see, but I won't be holding my breath.

I’ve heard it’s very good. I have seen The Pianist and The Grand Budapest Hotel. He’s a very good actor.
