Read something how humans will achieve this this century by 2040 jfl, few scientists claimed its possible. Bruh this shit is just 0 to 100 really fast, are they larping? It just seems super impossible cause we don't even understand how consciousness work

What do they mean by digital immortatility?

Scientists claim humans will be able to upload our consciousness to a computer and then to another body after if you want. This would make us practically immortal

it's not it's just a concept
Seems unlikely to happen by 2040 then
It's a concept now, but humans have advanced drastically, compare our world at 1918 and 2021, it's literally completely different. 30 years ago some cancer for example were almost guaranteed death but now we have discovered much more effective treatments. Not surprising if we do the same about consciousness by 20 years. Read about neuro feedback

Not likely realistic for atleast another 50-200 years

You are severely underestimating science, we have already sequence the whole brain and neurons of a mouse, we have the whole blueprint of it, next step is doing it on a human brain

Human arrogance.

Human arrogance.
This was said about flying, viruse cures, atomic bombs, genetic engineering but here we are, having achieved all of that

This shit might be possible by 2240 so if you can vitrify your brain post-mortem. You might be able to get a rough digital reincarnation eventually.

Mind uploading tech dev will be a slow process. The first step will be true turing-grade ai. The next step will be brain computer interfaces where people can store parts of their memory and identity externally. This will probably exist in the mid 22nd century. After that will come super-turing ai that will be able to reconstruct and approximate a persons identity by disassembling and scanning a vitrified brain. If we are lucky this will be available by the 23rd century.

The final step will be a true gradual transfer where a persons brain is removed, and slowly replaced using nanotech one neuron at a time. This way the person being uploaded will not even notice that they are being uploaded. This will likely only be possible between the mid 26th century and third millenia.

Mind uploading is completely possible its just very difficult. In fact our life is a "gradual upload" as our consciousness is slowly transferred from atom to atom just like a ship of Theseus.

I hope so, I don't want to fucking live forever. Before this comes out im legit going to rope before the danger of someone unvolentary doing this to me

islamic paradise doesnt even seem ideal. I don't like the idea of eternity.

Also this reminds me of this one Black Mirror episode.

Anyone watched that?

Digital Immortality like that just isn't possible even 1000 years down the line

What is more realistic is to seperate the brain from the body, keep it alive and connect it to some kinda of virtual reality

I'm too lazy to write a new thread about it here but here is my old thread on the limblengtheningforum forum about it

Main issue is we haven't had any great biologist like we have had physicist (like Enstein, Bohr, Newton)

Biology is a severely lacking field when compared to progression in physics
