I have this Asian colleague who's super talented but is afraid to speak up. Amazing guy I've never met someone who does the kind of stuff he does with Rust. He knows all the kernels, great OS and system design knowledge. He understands the exact inner workings of all abstraction layers all that deep nitty gritty stuff that people in my domain miss out on. I've learned more from him than some of the seniors I've worked with. We're remote now so I personally see his code/output shine but in meetings he is all quiet. He's cool with playing the subservient role, never pushes back on some retarded idea and just grinds away in the background. It's so frustrating to see because I know this nigga isn't dumb.
He has some great point to make, he is high iq. I have to stand up for him. Call out when his ideas get ignored, credit him in chats. But he needs to own it too.
I don't understand why he does this. Muh bamboo tax. No nigga you is a fucking pussy. I've argued with managers more times than I can count and I'm literally a curry.
He's always like Idc man as long as I get paid he doesn't care and says he is not interested in office politics but damn nigga you say you want to found a startup someday build something big but how you finna do that? In tech especially Silicon Valley style companies. Getting into C suite leadership means speaking up, challenging bad calls, self promoting your wins and networking aggressively. You need to make your point. How tf are you going to be CEO who is afraid of fighting, who can't stand up for yourself and holds onto your opinions and
