He wasn't exactly "expelled" since he wasn't even a student there, he was just going to the campus to make videos, back in the old days these used to be more like public places, where everyone could hang out, chat with people, do whatever they wanted, etc.; now they are more like private areas and if you aren't a student, they could kick you out for whatever reason and even if you are a student but do something inappropriate you can be expelled for real from the university, and then kicked out of the campus.
This stuff happens now in more and more places that used to be open to the general public - there are cameras everywhere, security guards, all sorts of restrictions, it's getting simply insanely more difficult to have spontaneous interactions with people or cold approach girls.
