average people are ugly, being 'above average' doesn't actually mean you're attractive, but people assume it does because they think average means neutral.

if we're going by a realistic scale on which 5/10 is representative of the average person rather than neutrality, then 6/10 is still ugly, 7/10 is still ugly, 8/10 verges on neutral, and you're not attractive until you're 9/10+

also most models aren't actually attractive, they're just neutral with one or two good features, if they were too pretty it would distract from the product, but actors are often above neutral because they are the product.
