not sure about the start but it definitely ends in 2009, I can't see anyone born in 2010/2011/2012 being in any way the same as me

1998, with 1997 potentially transitional. 1996 are the last clear millennials. The way I see it, if you experienced at least 3 years of 2000s culture in high school you're a late millenial. So if 2000s culture ended in 2012, you need to have been 12 in 2009 max, making you born in 1997.

Another possible definition for zoomer is whether you were an early teen (12-15) when 2010s smartphone, instagram, streaming and e-celeb culture began, which was 2013, cause you were young enough that your childhood was heavily influenced by it (by 16 you begin to become aware of your impending adulthood and start separating yourself from "kids' stuff"). A 15-year-old in 2013 was born in 1998, so it fits.

Personally being born in 1997 I definitely feel like a late millenial. TikTok, streamers, OF, e-celebs, modern meme styles, all that stuff felt weird and new to me by the time I started uni in 2015, I was already thinking in "smh kids these days" terms. I remember the pre-internet world, grew up with emo/scene and rock still being mainstream, pick up artists, Facebook being the most popular social media (even caught a few years of MySpace as a kid before it declined to irrelevance), and got my first smartphone at 16.

1997 is kind of ambiguous. For that month probably on the zoomer end. In your memory was your high school experience mainly defined by smartphones, instagram, streamer e-celebs, the MCU, Netflix, SJW politics etc. or emo, nu metal, the American Pie movies, most people not having smartphones, hipsters, the internet still being a niche nerdy thing, youth subcultures still being a thing and at least memories of MySpace being big?

Yes, pretty much. I only vaguely remember MySpace. Very vaguely. But that's because I was an internet rotter since 2006.

I'd say by 2028 almost all zoomers will have graduated high school, with a lot being 30, so they won't be part of the youth culture anymore. God knows how bad gen alpha will be, the Wikipedia article on them is depressing.

probably kids "too cool" to be associated with the term, calling 1999-2002 millennial is delusional.
