Every day was something new about “get a job” from both my parents (I know that’s a joke, but they seriously were on my ass for that) and I tried getting a job to no luck. I gave up and rotted instead and they consistently gave me lectures and whatnot to “do something with my life”. Like okay yeah, im gonna figure it out but can u leave me alone for a while?


I’m in college now after close to 3/4 of a year rotting my life away. I don’t even wanna be there but I have to put up a front so my parents stop lecturing me

People who rot and NEETmaxx with parents who don’t give a shit are lucky. I have south Asian parents which is why they pushed me to do something with my life. If I had white parents I could’ve gotten away with it for at least a few years

Ive experienced this too. Years ago even I neeted for around 5-6 months before uni and every single day everyone around would buger me and call me a waste of oxygen for not doing anything with me life. I think this kind of culture is a knee jerk response to the kind of environment our parents grew up in.

They saw neighbours starve, relatives lose everything in the 80s and 90s liberalisation chaos, jobs disappear overnight, families go from middle class to homeless because one breadwinner got sick with no safety net. .

A BMW or a doctor son or an NRI kid sending dollars home literally meant your family wouldn't be wiped out the next time the country sneezed. Being a NEET is a suicide in this environment.For them "taking a break" is not normal it's seen as you actively throwing your entire bloodline into the gutter

You can think of it as the GMAT for curryland. It's an entrance test you give to gain admission into the top colleges in business. The reason I said below 90th percentile is a waste is because is because it is hyper competitive with top schools having very few seats and the applications heavily dependent on the marks that you score in that test unlike in foreign buisness schools like say Stanford where they evaluate your overall profile. Buisness schools in curryland first look at your test scores and if they are below a certain benchmark don't even bother looking at your profile.
