Basically, me and my brother are two years apart, and in my main middleschool we were in the same building.
We had really good pokemon collections, and were probably top 5 collectors in the school.
Sometime near the end of my 5th grade year, there were a ton of fake pokemon cards going around, it was pretty easy to spot the difference but it was subtle sometimes, so me and my brother took PRIDE in being able to flawlessly identify fake cards
With this, we decided to get our hands on some fake cards ourselves, and since we were at the time the only people who were able to identify fake cards flawlessly, if we just told people they were real, they wouldn't be able to question us and would just take the cards and dip
We did this 5-6 times for huge important trades but continued our business mostly legitimately throughout the school year,
but later that year, (fake name, random guy), Zupert's father got into some drama or beef with my dad, and that ended up being a lawsuit. So now my dad and zuperts dad had a huge legal drama battle that was causing him stress, and i felt bad for my dad
So what did we do? Invalidated Zupert's entire collection by deeming it as fake, probably 600-700$ of pokemon cards turned into 0$ on the middleschool lunchyard trading grounds.
He obviously confronted us, and we told him we'd stop if he gave us a majority of his collection.
He ended up settling for half of his collection, and we continued to say his collection was fake anyway, which made him stop talking to us
We started quietly selling this scheme of ruining peoples collections to other kids who had beef with some people for a fee of 10+ Fullart EX cards, or 20+ EX cards (the equivalent of like a 30-40$ fee)
then I eventually went to 9th grade (There were 2 buildings, one for 1-8th grade and one for 9-12th grade) and left the legacy of pokemon card validation down to my brother, who continued it well and hired goons to do his bidding for him.
@Lars2 thanks for reminding me of this by bringing up pokemon lmfao
