When should I ask a girl out?

I've been talking to this girl from school on IG for a little under 3 weeks at this point and I'm wondering when it would be best to ask to hang out. I've spoken w/ her a handful of times and always had really good interactions, but haven't seen her since school ended a little while ago. As of now we just talk mostly about exams and whatnot with the occasional personal convos on a daily basis. The only caveat here is that we will end up as coworkers in a bit, so if I get rejected it will be really awkward. Any advice would be much appreciated.
