when should i pin my gh insulin and test

ik for gh u split the doses and pin every 2-3 hours but i read somewhere do not pin before eating carbs so idfk if that’s true or not and if it is idk what to do since i will be taking 5iu novolog post and pre workout. i also have never seen anything about when to pin test so does it even matter
