I just missed that era and as a spectator (my brother went gym during then) i feel so fucking jealous of the culture and hype back then. It made me wonder if that will ever be recreated again

You just grow up and realize that this is more than just a phase, it's a lifestyle. You don't "go jim", you become a gym regular like you go to your job everyday until you cannot anymore. This is life long commitment and it separates people who care about longevity from posers.
