Im currently stuck between the two choices of either medical study (PASS*) or financial study (prepa ecg*), what makes me hesitant about the decision taking between those two is the pace ai is getting bigger, i feel like ai can help surgeons since most of surgeons work is physical manipulation performed on real humans whereas i feel like finance is more « vulnerable » since its more like information processing which could be handled by AI. But the financial ceiling for a super duper surgeon is 500k-5M/year , but there isn’t really a ceiling when you’re in private equity for example.

Pass* is « parcours d’accès spécifique santé », basically first exam before going to medical school in france

Prepa ecg is a preparatory program for admission so basically the same but in the financial field

Hope i yall understand what i said and i hope i explained myself well

Honestly I think you're overestimating how much AI will replace finance compared to medicine. AI is going to change both industries a lot. In finance it'll automate a ton of the grunt work, but PE is still heavily about judgment, negotiations, and relationships. In medicine, AI will also become a huge part of diagnosis and surgery, but surgeons aren't just going to disappear either.
I'd choose based on what you'd rather spend your life doing, not on trying to predict which field AI will "replace" less.

I also think that schools and higher education’s programs are going to drastically change since a lot of what they are teaching is becoming outdated and unnecessary as skills so its kinda difficult period to think about it

regardless both fields will never die and it's your job to learn through time how to make leverage of AI to boost your productivity and keep up with competition and times. So as I said just choose what you like, it's not like you're choosing between computer science and philosophy lol

AI will be a net positive in finance, it might replace lowly programmers but from my personal experience they still hire programmers to prompt Claude.

High finance is more worth it but you have to be very determined; there is no direct path cut out for you to La Défense, the best French go to the US (see: F.Tourre), you must be very focused and do well extracurricular to make it at a bulge bracket much less a smaller PE or hedge fund.

I dont really know yet its just that my mom is really exigeant and she said that if i wanted to go study a few months (years eventually) in ny, i had to lock in my choice for my future and start studying, i currently dont even live in france but i use to tho, i dont even know where i want to study yet , france seems like the most suitable for me although im a polyglot
