A pack of hominids could easily take on a woolly mammoth and succeed, as they used to do during the ice age. Woolly Mammoths were a perfect food source that despite the amount of effort it took to kill them, the humans could ensure that they would be well-fed afterwards.

But by yourself, all alone, a Woolly Mammoth wins every single time unless you have some sort of exterior leverage such as a gun
